The Castles of North Zeeland in Denmark.

The Castles North of Copenhagen.

It is the last day of our Eurodam Baltic Sea Cruise and we are back in the City of Copenhagen. We are going on a ship’s excursion about 100klms north of the City to view some of the ancient Castles of North Zeeland.
Our drive takes us up the Danish coast line in sight of Sweden. Our first stop is Kronberg Castle in the Town of Elsinor. This Castle is also known as Hamlets Castle and is located at the head of the Baltic Sea. Previous Kings used this Castle to demand tolls from passing ships as their cannons could reach all the way to Sweden. It is a wonderful fortress with fantastic furnished rooms inside. It is surrounded by a moat and you have to walk across a draw bridge to get into the castle. It still has cannons pointing out across the strait.

We then went to Frederiksberg Castle which is now a fantastic museum that shows the lifestyle of the kings of the past. It is just full of beautiful furniture, tapestries’ and paintings. We were the last tour group to go through this wonderful castle that day and we were able to really enjoy it without the large crowds.

Our last tour even though it was a bit rushed was really enjoyable and it was great to see Castles that the nobility have actually lived in.
